Small kitchens are very difficult to keep clean and organized; this room was small by any standard but especially for a kitchen.  When you throw someone in who loves to cook gourmet food you definitely have a challenge.

We'd been through this kitchen a couple of times during the process and purged the contents of the cupboards.  Still, it had proved to be the most difficult space to keep clean and organized. This last time around, we hit the countertops with a vengeance; four hours of work included a lot of scrubbing and ruthless purging of countertop items.   We rearranged the appliances around to where the would be utilized the easiest.  As with the last kitchen we moved the microwave to the far corner to take advantage of the deep corner space.  Since this kitchen is simply too small for practical use, we have been toying around with the idea of building additional cabinets into the dining room area for storage of the larger cooking items and some china.
